Fashion: DIY Leopard Shorts

15 May

I’ve been gawking at high waist + printed shorts everywhere this summer. They’re awesome.

Even before my Betsey Johnson fetish, I had a thing for prints in general. The folks at Hello Giggles have hooked us up with inspiration to make some fly leopard print shorts just in time for summer. I will definitely be DIY-ing this!

Fashion: Runway Rebel presents “I was Here”

14 May

My participation with this show has been a lot of fun, and I’m actually really excited about it now that the date is near.

I am fortunate enough to perform an opening number to Beyonce’s “I was Here,” which is a song I absolutely love. I was really elated upon selection because the choreography was created haphazardly in my room one night.

Hope to see you there!

Woo-tiful Causes: Girls Rock Camp Guitar Salon

14 May

This year Girls Rock Camp Atlanta is partnering up with In Tune Studio to provide a Guitar Salon!

Now, what on earth is a guitar salon? (I was wondering the same)

It’s basically a fun evening of playing songs and learning about music with others; it doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner(thank goodness). I’m really interested in taking up guitar this summer, so I’m totally gonna try me best to be there.

Cost?

It’s only $25, and it helps to support Girls Rock Camp Atl.

Music + Woo-tiful Laughter: Santigold’s BIG MOUTH Video

14 May

I thought of so many people when I first read the title of this song. However, shortly after the video started, my mind was just in a frenzy. This video is so crazy. Santigold’s Big Mouth video has most definitely worked its way on my list of quirkiest, trippiest, weirdest, yet innovative and relatable videos that I’ve ever seen. Enjoy!

P.S.: The dancing is pretty darn ill. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

Ruby Randoms: Find yourself some NEW Music!

13 May

Ever get bored with listening to the same ol songs and artists? No? Gee, well this post may not help out much. But if so, keep reading!

Here are 5 awesome places to find (what would seem to be) new music/artists:

Soundtracks of movies

Just pay attention. You’re bound to love at least one song in every movie you watch. Come on, you know it’s true.

The walls of tattoo/piercing shops.

These walls of these places are almost always teeming with music posters. I first learned of Wynter Gordon by looking at a poster in Kolo. I didn’t necessarily fall in love with her sound, but I adore her hair and style. Score!

Your parents cd/record collection

Oldies, but perhaps goodies?

Thrift Stores

Let’s face it. Everything remotely interesting makes it into a thrift store one way or another. Fact. Of. Life. Music doesn’t escape this rule.

Rummage your dance teachers music collection

Dance instructors by far, or atleast the ones I’ve known, always have the most interesting music

How do you all escape musical redundancies? Sharing is caring!

Fashion: No fear; Denim Therapy is here.

24 Apr

I mean, yeah. I know sometimes we like fancy rips in our jeans like the one’s Teyana Taylor wears here:

Those are very cute…

But what on earth do you do when the holes in your jeans are unintentional? God forbid, but let’s say you you rip your jeans trying to perfect your split while playing with friends, or your puppy has a little too much fun with left leg, you accidentally sit on a nail in your brand new Joe’s, or if you’re anything like me, you just wear your jeans to death and they start to disintegrate in the crotch?

Fortunately, I’m asking these questions for a reason. Denim Therapy specializes in fixing problems like the ones I’ve mentioned. It would behoove you to check it out. Personally, my favorite pair of skinny True Religion jeans desperately need mending in the crotch area. After years of wear and tear, this happens naturally. The thing is, aside from the little rips from consistent wear, they are still perfectly great jeans.

Some might ask, why don’t you just buy a new pair of jeans and stop being cheap? I understand this question, however, to me there is nothing-at-all like a pair of broken in pair of jeans. It’s like they know my body.

I’m gonna see what the folks at Denim therapy can do for me.

What do you guys do with your “ruined” jeans?

Music: Madonna’s MDNA, and dang-she-ages-well…

12 Apr

Yep, I’m a Madonna fan. Her music, most times, is just so positive and upbeat.

Sidenote: Have you guys noticed how well she’s aging? It’s amazing. Check out this video w/ Nicki Minaj and MIA if you haven’t seen it yet! Beware: The cheerleader robot thingies are kinda grotesque…
